The two victims of the Friday morning shooting at Central Michigan University were the parents of the 19-year-old suspect, a student at the university.
The Central Michigan University Police identified the two victims as James Davis Sr. and Diva Davis of Plainfield, Illinois.
Their son, James Eric Davis, Jr., is still at large.
Thursday evening, Davis was admitted to the hospital the night before the shooting for a drug-related health problem, possibly an overdose, according to Larry Klaus of the Central Michigan University (CMU) Police Department.
At around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, reports of shots fired came in from the Campbell Hall dorm on the campus of Central Michigan University, located about 125 miles northwest of Detroit.
