Samsung resumes Android Oreo update for Galaxy S8, S8+

ood news for Samsung Galaxy S8 users. The company has resumed the roll out of Android Oreo update for its Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices. The rollout was temporarily halted mid-February after some users experienced unexpected and repeated reboots of their devices when updated to Oreo.

"Following a limited number of cases where Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices have rebooted unexpectedly with the Android 8.0 Oreo, we have temporarily stopped the rollout of the update. We are investigating the issue internally to ensure that the impact to the affected devices is minimized and the rollout of the update can resume as quickly as possible," Samsung told sammobile in a statement.

The company said that investigations were on and that it would resume the roll out soon. Sammobile reports that Samsung is rolling out new firmware version G950FXXU1CRB7 and G955XXU1CRB7 for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+.
Samsung already took a lot of time to release Oreo update for Galaxy S8s. The update remained in beta phase also for quite some time. The update was finally released in select international markets such as France, India, Norway and Turkey. However the company, within a week, had to halt the roll out citing reboot issues.
